Blackbeard algae (BBA), scientifically referred to as Audouinella sp. and Rhodochorton is a common type of red algae found in freshwater aquariums. It is characterised by its dark green, grey, or black hues. If not managed quickly, this algae can spread rapidly, often due to low carbon dioxide levels that hinder plant growth and create favourable conditions for BBA. To effectively tackle black beard algae, it is crucial to identify the factors affecting plant health and restore equilibrium in the aquarium. Our Carbon and Blackbeard products are designed to eliminate BBA while fostering a healthy aquatic environment, ensuring your aquarium remains vibrant and thriving.

INSTRUCTIONS:

We recommend an initial 40-50% water change before starting treatment. Dose 6 ml and 2 ml/100L for minor outbreaks every second day until the BBA diminishes.
For major outbreaks, dose 8ml then 2ml/100L every second day until BBA diminishes; if BBA is still present after 3 weeks, raise the daily dose to 3-4ml/100L, if there is any cloudiness in water or signs of stress from fish and inverts, do an emergency water change.
